Records were made to be broken, but this one from Willie Nelson may never be touched.
Nelson’s latest record The Border, was released in early June and debuted at No. 50 on the Top Country Albums chart. With that debut, it becomes the 114th time that Nelson has had an album debut on the charts, extending his own record, according to Billboard.
To give that number some perspective, Morgan Wallen has three albums. Willie Nelson now has 152 to his credit, including 75 solo studio albums.
The 91-year old Nelson continues to put out new music with The Border. Despite checking in on the charts, the opening sales for the album only cleared 4,600 copies according to Forbes. But when perusing the comments of the Instagram post, it is easy to see that Willie Nelson fans seem to truly be enjoying the new work.
The 114th debut record is worthwhile on its own, but Nelson has reached the Top 10 of the Album charts a staggering 53 times and has hit the No. 1 spot a mind blowing 18 times.
Willie Nelson released his first album, …And Then I Wrote, back in 1962 and hasn’t slowed down since. Willie once again proving that he is country music royalty, for anyone to run him down in the record books they will have to be really good for a long, long time.
