Watch Vince Gill Play Emotional Tribute to Blake’s Brother + Toby

Vince Gill took a moment to honor Blake Shelton‘s late brother, Richie, as well as late country great Toby Keith in a show-stopping rendition of his song “Go Rest High on That Mountain” during his set at the All for the Hall concert in Oklahoma.

The veteran country singer was a special guest during Shelton’s event on March 30, raising money for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s various programs. As a way to show his gratitude, Gill chose to sing the song he wrote after his own brother, Bob, died in 1993.

“I was grateful that Blake invited me to do this. I want to thank him on behalf of all of us and especially the people at the Country Music Hall of Fame. All the proceeds tonight are going to benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame. So grateful,” Gill told the audience.

“I thought I’d do something sweet tonight and do this for the memory of – this song was written about the loss of my brother Bob,” he remarked. “Tonight, I wanna also include the dedication of this song to Blake’s brother Richie that he lost when he was a young boy in a car accident and also dedicate it to another fellow Okie, Mr. Toby Keith.”

What Is the All for the Hall Event?

This year, Shelton hosted a star-studded event that raised nearly $800,000 for the education programs run by the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. The show featured several guests including Kristin Chenoweth, Ronnie Dunn, the Swon Brothers, Wade Hayes and Shelton’s wife Gwen Stefani.

The “God’s Country” singer says Keith was looking forward to being a part of the show before he died in February 2024 after a long battle with stomach cancer.

“Toby wanted to do it,” Shelton revealed to fans. “If you couldn’t physically see him, you would never know that he was sick.”
