Gretchen Wilson Says She’s Endorsing Donald Trump, and Here’s Why

Gretchen Wilson admits she comes from a long line of Democrats, but in 2024, she’s putting her voice behind Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

The “Redneck Woman” singer has not gotten political previously. Her comments to Taste of Country signaled a change, however.

“I sometimes feel like in country music, we’re a little like the border — a little too wide open,” she told Taste of Country Nights when asked about pop artists going country. “Everybody’s like, ‘Come on in!'”

Confirmation that Wilson is voting for the former president came on Saturday (Sept. 7) during a Trump rally in Wisconsin. She performed the National Anthem and spoke to the crowd.

“As a songwriter, I pay close attention to words,” she says. “The words that are being used, and the words that are not being used. I urge all Americans to pay close attention to what you are hearing and not hearing from the media, because the issues that are most important for our survival are what we’re voting on.”

Wilson makes it clear that she believes Team Trump/Vance is the only team telling the truth this election season. The American dream, she says, will be lost forever “if we do not show up and vote for freedom in November.”

“Let’s make sure we the people do all we can to save our country by voting for President Trump and J.D. Vance.”

Other singers who’ve shown support or outright endorsed Donald Trump include Jason Aldean, John Rich, Kid Rock, Lee Greenwood and Justin Moore. Election Day in the United States is on Nov. 5.
