Waffle House Made a Sneaky Change That Is Angering Customers

Waffle House is a staple in America. Folks know you can roll up to the black and yellow sign any hour of any day or night for good-off-the-grill breakfast staples, brought to your table quickly.

But they may not know about this sorta sneaky charge Waffle House is adding to to-go orders. It’s actually been policy for awhile, but has gone unnoticed until now.

A Facebook user named Herbie Davis highlighted Waffle House’s gratuity policy for diners, and it upended Waffle House fans.

For every to-go order, Waffle House adds a 20 percent fee. It breaks down with 10 percent going to the server who packed it, and 10 percent back to the House as a “to-go fee,” a sign posted at Davis’ local Waffle House indicates.

Davis points out to restaurant-goers that you are being charged a fee which includes tipping a server when you aren’t even utilizing a table.

“This is crazy… how in the h-ll Waffle House gonna tip a server on a to go order.. I’m not sitting down eating …” Davis notes.

One commenter points out: “Anything to keep them from paying employees a livable wage.”

Others are banding together to not eat at Waffle House anymore until they’re more forthcoming about the added fee, or until they drop it entirely.

Some feel you’re better off sitting down so you can tip your server as you see fit (never forget to tip your servers, folks).
