Hot off the heels of Carrie Underwood‘s announcement that she’s joining American Idol as a new judge, the superstar stopped by Good Morning America to talk about her illustrious career.

Underwood continues to perform live, and that won’t soon change – her Vegas residency goes through April 2025 as of now – but even the biggest Carrie Underwood Stans will never hear one of her songs live.

Carrie Underwood Reveals Her Favorite Song She Recorded, But Won’t Sing Live

“My favorite lyrics I’ve ever sang are probably from a song called ‘Forever Changed,'” she dishes to GMA. “I didn’t write it, I wish I had.”

“It’s one of my absolute favorite songs I have ever recorded, it is so beautiful, but it makes me cry,” Underwood admits. “I’ve never performed it live because it’s just too special, and I will bawl and not make it through, but I love that song so much.”

The song is an album cut on Underwood’s fourth studio LP, Blown Away, which was released in 2012. The 41-year-old’s most recent project is 2022’s Denim & Rhinestones.

Season 23 of American Idol — featuring Underwood alongside fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie — starts in spring 2025. It’s a full-circle moment for her, as she won the show as a competitor in Season 4.

Carrie Underwood and her husband, Mike Fisher, owned a 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom, 2-half-bathroom home in an affluent Nashville suburb called Brentwood. The 7,000-square-foot mansion features a wet bar, fitness center and tennis court, as well as a four-car garage, walk-out basement with heated marble floors and extra appliances, including a sub-zero fridge and wine fridge. That house is where Underwood suffered a devastating fall in 2017.

The couple sold the luxurious home for $1,410,000 in March of 2019, after they moved into the massive dream home that they had spent several years building from scratch.
