Parker McCollum and wife Hallie Ray’s lives are quickly going to change. For the family of two, life at home and on the road will shift as they are about to have their first child enter the world.

“Every night, they use to throw bras on stage,” the singer shared with Taste of Country’s Jessica Rowe before the 2024 ACM Awards. “Now they throw onesies on stage. You know life comes at you fast.”

The pair first broke the news of their growing family back in February.

“God’s little blessing,” the post read. “We Iove you so much already, Baby M!”

Only a few days later, they shared that the gender of their future child was a baby boy.

“It’s crazy,” he expresses. “We already have a carseat in the back of Hallie Ray’s car and a crib in our bedroom, his nursery is almost done.”

The “Handle On You” singer jokes that he feels like his wife is over prepared for their child and that his son isn’t even going to be able to wear all the outfits she’s racked up for him!

“If it were just me, I’d give him a pull-up bar and a pair of overalls,” he shares.

While McCollum might not be placing his son’s fashion in high priority, there is one thing he’s shared is important for him to implement.

“I tell Hallie Ray all the time, he’s probably not going to be real smart like his dad, but he will have impeccable manners,” he says smiling. “That’s the way I was raised, it was ingrained in my DNA from the time I can remember.”

It’s new territory, so for the first time in awhile, the singer says he’s a little uneasy.

“Most of the time, everything I’ve done in life, I’ve at least known a little bit about it before I got into it,” McCollum says. “This thing, I’m like here we go, just winging it.”

In an interview with the Spencer Graves Show, McCollum revealed that the name he and his wife selected is Major Yancey McCollum — a fittingly Texan name for a child whose dad hails from the Lone Star State.

The singer says he got the idea for the name after watching highlights of old championship college football games.

“I saw [former Texas Longhorns quarterback] Major Applewhite, and I was like, ‘Damn, Major McCollum would be sick,'” McCollum explains.

It’s not clear exactly when baby Major is due to make his arrival, though it’ll be in 2024: When they made their announcement, McCollum tweeted that the new addition was “coming later this year.”
