7-Eleven Closing More Than 250 Locations Across America in 2024

For many Americans, going to your local 7-Eleven to grab a Slurpee and some Now and Laters is a rite of passage.

Your chances to do so now might be fewer and farther between.

7-Eleven Is Closing More Than 250 locations Across America in 2024

It’s no secret that the COVID-19 pandemic shifted consumer’s spending habits. With this comes the ripple effect of businesses having to close under-performing locations that are dragging down their profile.

Add convenience store monster 7-Eleven to the list of chains who are closing stores. According to CBS News, 7-Eleven is closing 272 locations across America in 2024. Specific locations and dates of closures are being held tight to the chest.

CBS News also reports that in 2023, 7-Eleven closed 184 stores in America. If all happens as expected for the closures this year, that’s 88 more closures slated for 2024 than in 2023 for the convenience store giant.

How Many 7-Eleven Locations Are Left?

With all of these closures, there is still a light at the end of the tunnel. According to Hasdata.com, there are still 9,207 7-Eleven locations in America as of April 2024.

For a lot of Americans, the date 7/11 has become a national holiday of sorts. For years, 7-Eleven locations have offered Free Slurpee Day to anyone that came into one of their locations on that date.

Being that it’s always in the thick of the summer, a lot of people take advantage of the free offer.

7-Eleven also celebrates Bring Your Own Cup (BYOC) Day in April. On that day, you are allowed to bring any cup you like, and fill it to the brim with Slurpee, for just $1.99.
