Watch Jelly Roll Learn the Lyrics to Morgan Wallen’s ‘Cowgirls’

Just before he took the stage as Morgan Wallen‘s special guest in Las Vegas on Thursday night (Aug. 8), Jelly Roll had to quickly learn the lyrics to the song they were planning to sing.

That song was Wallen’s new single “Cowgirls,” which he usually sings as a duet with Ernest. But since Ernest wasn’t available as a duet partner during Wallen’s Vegas show, Jelly stepped in to sing the song’s second verse and join Wallen in the chorus. His appearance was arguably one of the biggest of the night.

But before he could rock the crowd with a performance of “Cowgirls,” Jelly had to brush up on the lyrics: Which he did backstage, with help from his very own “Cowgirl,” his wife Bunnie Xo.

Bunnie shared the behind-the-scenes moment to TikTok, posting video of Jelly practicing his part of the performance — and serenading her in the process.

“When your hubby doesn’t kno the words of the song he’s about to sing, so you help him so he crushes it when he gets out there w/ Morgan,” Bunnie wrote over the screen of the video.

In the video, Jelly seems to have most of the lyrics down — but he stumbles over some of the trickier lines, like “Rodeo for one night” and “Hole in your heart with some good aim / On a goodbye ride.”

The singer laughs off his mistakes, and rallies at the end of the chorus, singing “Long live cowgirls” directly to Bunnie.

“It’s all a product of being in love,” Jelly commented on Bunnie’s video, suggesting that his feelings for her are what helped him ultimately nail the lyrics. Their practice session paid off: Watch to the end of the video for a clip of Jelly’s performance with Wallen onstage.

It seems that Jelly and Bunnie are both big Wallen fans. Before the Vegas show, Bunnie paid homage to the country superstar with her own Wallen-style walkout, posting the video to social media and adding, “[Morgan Wallen] did I do it right?”

On his recent One Night at a Time Tour stops, Wallen has been making eye-catching walkouts — often with celebrity special guests — before each show. Most recently, Mike Tyson and Tom Brady joined him for a walkout.
