Colt Ford‘s team has offered an update after the singer was sent to intensive care following a heart attack last week.

Friends like Brantley Gilbert also shared positive news on social media.

  • Colt Ford, 54, suffered a heart attack after a show in Gilbert, Ariz., on Thursday (April 4).
  • His team said he was hospitalized in ICU in Mesa, Ariz.
  • Ford has released nearly a dozen albums featuring A-list country music stars, but his biggest commercial success came from co-writing “Dirt Road Anthem” with Gilbert.

While Ford is still in intensive care, his team says “his condition is steadily improving in a positive direction.”

“At this time, his family is requesting privacy and appreciates your continued thoughts and prayers,” a short note from his team reads. Ford has several children with his first wife. He married again in fall 2022.

This update mirrors what Gilbert shared with his followers on Instagram on Sunday night (April 7).

“Finished a show in Texas last night and called to check on Colt and finally got some good news!” he wrote before asking for continued prayers.

Ford (real name Jason Brown) is a quietly private person. Very little is known about his family life, although he did tell Taste of Country about a pair of health battles.

He successful fought off eye cancer but in 2022 was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Myasthenia Gravis. There is no cure for it. It affects the muscles in your face, eyes and throat.

“It hadn’t really affected my throat, but it really affected my eye,” Ford told Taste of Country Nights in May 2023. “I had no control over my right eye. It really messes with your vision. I could see perfectly out of either eye, but then I would look together and I’d see three of you and you would be melting together like a lava lamp.”

Ford’s next scheduled tour stop is on April 18 in Virginia.
