More Red Lobster Locations Just Closed

It has been an ugly few years for the restaurant business. Red Lobster filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in May of 2024 and closed some locations as a result, but the fallout continues.

Per USA Today, in May, the company website listed 99 restaurants in 28 states as “temporarily closed.” Now, those locations are officially closed, and many have been completely wiped from their site.

Now, news has come that Red Lobster has closed 7 more locations across 6 states. The newly-closed locations are:

Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Phoenix, Ariz. (North 75th Ave.)
Monrovia, Calif.
Greeley, Colol.
Clermont, Fla.
The Villages, Fla.
San Antonio, Texas (US 281 North)

That makes more than 100 Red Lobster restaurants that have shuttered — check out the lobster locator map that USA Today put together.

As the once-largest seafood restaurant chain in America, there are still more than 500 locations of Red Lobster restaurants nationwide, but a global pandemic did a number on the business.

Recently, Red Lobster announced that a sale to new owners (“Stalking Horse Bidder,” RL Purchaser LLC, which is a newly formed LLC, organized and controlled by Fortress Credit Corporation) was pending — that’s according to court documents filed on July 22 in the Middle District of Florida Orlando Bankruptcy Court.

The sale has yet to be approved by a court, but it is on the docket for Monday, July 29. The sale is reportedly for $375 Million. Once final, there’s no telling what the future of Red Lobster will be — hopefully the beloved chain can claw its way back to the top.
