11 Songs That Helped Normalize Weed

11 Songs That Helped Normalize Weed

You don’t need to go back 20 years to find a time when talking about weed was taboo in proper country music circles. Really, you don’t even need to go back five years!

“Sun Daze” was a 2014 hit for Florida Georgia Line, and it surely made this list of 11 songs that helped normalize pot smoking. Medical or recreational marijuana has been legalized in many U.S. states (or soon will be), and there’s not as much outrage over it today as there was before. Did country music help? This list of songs serves as Exhibit A that … maybe?

Of course Willie Nelson makes the list, as he’s country music’s most distinguished pot smoker. Toby Keith is another who has admitted to partaking, and he too passed around a smoke-friendly song. Kacey Musgraves, Brothers Osborne and Ashley Monroe are three more contemporary singers with songs on recent albums that encouraged a greener society.

Did we miss any?

Find 11 country songs that celebrate (or at least recognize) marijuana use in the video above. We’re just a few days away from an unofficial pot smokers holiday (April 20), and if current laws continue to loosen, there may be greener pastures for everyone!
